The History Of The Alliance Of Formula One Fans (AFOS)

The Alliance Of Formula One Fans was formed in 2009 in response to the crisis which has gripped the sport in the stand-off between the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (or FIA) and the Formula One Teams Association (or FOTA).

At a time when the very existence of Formula One seems threatened, this group was formed to provide a voice for fans who called not only for the end in hostilities, but also a serious revision of how Formula One operates on all levels. Based initially on the Formula One Whitepaper written by Matt Webb, AFOS is now growing in numbers and seeking further support from fans who have had enough of the politics and want the focus of Formula One to return to the racing.

As part of its brief, AFOS also endeavours to make sensible regualtion suggestions for, what the fans feel, is the good of the sport. The mantra of AFOS is that the fans and supporters of Formula One are the sports number one investors and stake holders, we attend races, we purchase merchandise, we watch the telecasts and we purchase the goods that allow sponsorship. Taking all this into account, we think it is only fair and reasonable that us, as fans, are given a voice and are leant an ear with which to hear it. That is the goal of AFOS.

We may fail in our plans to have a say, but we will do our very best to succeed, because afterall, our only want is for the on-going, long lasting success and viability of Formula One.
